History of Portman College

Malaysia was established with vision to become a pivotal educational centre for students from across this region.

We are registered with the Ministry of Education Malaysia as a private institution of higher learning since 1997. It was formerly known as Institut Rangkaian Komputer (Computer Network Institute). The Malaysian Qualification Agency (or MQA, www.lan.gov.my) has granted approval for its programmes.

Portman College is affiliated with few colleges at Singapore. This affiliation provides our students with the benefits and advantages their counterparts in Singapore enjoyed over the past decade. Our students are able to complete part of the programme in Singapore and/or its partner universities in Britain, Australia, New Zealand, Canada or the United States of America.

CEO's Welcome Message
Education is a life long learning process. It is a combination of formal education and experiential learning. We can pursue an uninterrupted education from school to college or university, graduate and seek employment. We can also interrupt this education journey by starting to work after leaving school or college. Alternatively, we can study and work at the same time. We have a choice therefore on how we want to shape our life and our future through education. And how we exercise this choice can affect our personal confidence, professional development and career advancement. Most importantly, however, we must make the right choice the first time every time.
At Portman College, we subscribe to the philosophy and practice of combined formal education and experiential learning. We can help you to make the right choice the first time every time. We offer you the opportunity and the avenue to be able to make the right choice especially when you should decide to adopt the study and work model. A value-add of this model is to commence your programme of study in Malaysia and conclude your study-work experience in Singapore. The proximity of Singapore to our country Malaysia is both cost-saving and cost-effective. Of course, you still have the choice to extend yourself beyond Singapore once you have completed and graduated. After all, education is like a borderless world today where anything is possible if you have the passion and commitment to make your dream come true.
